---How long do you watch TV? ---For two hours(Can we usually omit "for"?)

Senior Member
Hello, my friends,

I was wondering whether I can omit "for" when answer the question with "how long":

"How long do you watch TV?"

1) For two hours

2) Two hours

Thoughts and context: I asked my friend the amount of time he spent on TV. I was wonder which answer is idiomatic.

The answer sounds fine without "for" - the question is a little strange. Perhaps if you specified when, like "each night" or "per day" or something it would be more likely.
