how much should the invoice be for

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a relatively polite way of asking a client the amount an invoice should be for (in case there were minor variations allowed for by the contract or if for whatever other reason you didn't agree on the exact amount in advance and you want to be polite and let them suggest an exact amount first).

How much should I make out the (/an?) invoice for?
What amount should I issue/make out/draw up the invoice for?

Hi, Kenny.

Both versions you suggested look fine to me. Both versions sound polite. I prefer the first version (How much...?) I'd probably use "the" instead of "an".
