how people look at you

Senior Member
Hello, my friends,

I was wondering whether the underlined part is idiomatic:

"An impression can decide how people look at you."

Thoughts and context: I told my friends the importance of impression. It can decide people's view of you at first sight.

I do not think your sentence is particularly idiomatic. There are many ways you can say this.
"People often judge us by the first impression we make".
Got it. Do you the mean the original sentence is entirely not idiomatic. Can it sound idiomatic by being tinkered with.
