Hybridization

If we want to ask someone about the types of hybridization
Can I ask
How many types of hybridization are there?
Or should I ask
What are the different types of hybridization?
Thank You

They are different questions. The first could be answered by by a number (if it can be answered at all). The second asks for descriptions. Always use the second form if you want to know more about them.

The first question is a grammatically correct question but the answer ("7", for example) won't tell you much "about the types of hybridization." It's not the question you should ask in your context.
