Hi, guys!

The quoted line is from a novel "Last days of the Condor" by James Grady.

I came accross with this line. And quite confused with it.

Does it mean that his driver’s license is something he carry just because he likes to do so?

My driver’s license is just so I carry passable pocket litter. But I remember driving.
