Does the following sentence make sense?

"I couldn't sleep until late last night"

Are there no better ways to say that?

I'd say 'I couldn't get to sleep until late last night'. Your version is not wrong but not very usual.

Well, I think that's pretty much the same though

Hi falco, yes, it's pretty much the same, and I think possibly almost as common, and idiomatic - it's slightly less colloquial, perhaps, but then some people like adopting such a tone.
