"I decided to do that until I finish/finished high school"

I want to say that the decision was in the past and the finishing will be inthe future .
Thanks.

"finished" is correct if you've already finished high school at the time of speaking.

"finish" is correct if you are still in high school.

I would reccomend that you say, "I decided to do that when I finish high school"

I'm not 100% sure, but shouldn't it be "I decided to do that when I finished high school."?

It depends on the length of the action. If the action will take place at the point that you finish high school, then, "I (have)decided to do that when I finish school". If you plan to do the action continuously until the point that you finish high school, then "I (have) decided to do that until I finish high school."

We must assume that roniy knows the use of the word "until" - as that is not the word use he is querying!

That sounds like the wrong understanding of "until"....

I decided to work part-time until I finish high school = from now until X
I decided to work part-time when I finish high school = from X onwards

For anyone, like me, who has become confused by this thread:

Roniy's question was answered to his satisfaction in post #2.

Posts #4-6 are talking about something happening AFTER finishing high school. That is not what Roniy asked about.

Posts #7-8 come back to the topic.

Thread closed to avoid further confusion.
