-- After we made love, he seemed restless.
-- "I'm married," I told her after we made love.
-- After we made love, he said, "I don't think this is going anywhere."

Hello, everyone!
These are the examples of bad behaviors after making love. In the last sentence, does the bold phrase mean that "I think it's useless?"

I believe that people use this phrase a lot when they are breaking up.

--Listen, I've tried, but I don't think this is going anywhere.
    --But I do love you.
--This has nothing to do with love. I'm sorry, I think we should stop seeing each other......

In this case, it means that the relationship is not going anywhere, it's stuck somewhere, it's not going to get to any place/have any kind of happy ending (Imagine a car that's stuck in the mud or the snow, it's not going anywhere)

    Thank you, nichec.
Your additional explanation made the expression clearer to me!
I think I can go somewhere with this expression?! :)

    I think so.
    --What's on your mind?
--I don't know....I need to know that this is going somewhere.(indicates that she/he wants some kind of promise....)

You truly inspire my imagination, chobalsim, now I'm thinking about taking a second job as a soap-opera writer:D

Of course, you are more than welcome:)
