I want to say "In the great metropolis I felt like a country yokel still with straw in his hair".

Would "Nella grande metropoli mi sentivo come un paesanotto ancora con paglia nei capelli" be correct or should it be "....paglie..." (i.e. the plural form) ?

Thanks very much. I see now that the individual bit of straw is called un fuscello or un fuscello di paglia but the collective noun is la paglia.

    Un filo di paglia.
    Pagliuzza
