I found it hard or I found it difficult are the same.
At the end of the sentence, it should be 'coming on short notice' or 'coming on such short notice'.

I found it hard/difficult to find somebody that would be ok with me coming at the short notice.

You can simplify it by writing:

I found it difficult/hard that someone would be okay with me coming at short notice.

Blueglaze's and sound shift's options are okay, too. :)

I just found this thread :D, and I would like to know how the following differ in meaning. Thank you :)

    1. After the downpours, Cyril found it difficult to walk in the mud.

    2. After the downpours, Cyril found it difficult walking in the mud.

    3. After the downpours, Cyril found walking in the mud difficult.
