Here are some words from the novel Lady Chatterley's Lover(page 410, chapter 18) by DH Lawrence (planetebook,here):

‘You’re right. …… I knew it with the men. I had to be in touch with them, physically, and not go back on it.I had to be bodily aware of them and a bit tender(=warm and kind?) to them, even if I put em(=them) through hell.…… ’
Bodily is likely to refer to in person, physically and completely. Which one is possible here please? I suppose it's more likely to be physically.
