I have sure been wrong before.

Is the sentence correct? Should it not be I have surely been wrong before OR I have been wrong before? Or should be put another way?

Many thanks in advance.

Either of your examples would work well, too. The sure simply adds emphasis that the person has made other mistakes. I wouldn't consider it an appropriate sentence in formal writing (unless it appeared in dialog), but it is very common in spoken English, in my area.
