Can someone tell me how to say " i wish i can see you this weekend" in Spanish?
Ojala pueda verte este fin de semana.
Just a note for English learners that the question should have read "I wish I could see you this weekend".
Ojala pudiera verte este fin de semana...
Quisiera poderte ver este fin de semana.
or: I hope I can see you this weekend. jejeje
Hi, Mulmex! I think the problem is that Born Great can't see (presumably) her boyfriend!
Good point Janet
Hi Jane, What is wrong with "can"?.
Hi, Dandee! Oh dear - now I have to think about the grammatical content of something which I would just say without thinking! How often do we ever think about grammar in our mother tongue? Um ...
It has to be 'I wish I could ...' and not 'I wish I can ...' because the verb in this context has to be in the conditional in English. In Spanish, of course, you would use the subjunctive (ojala quisiera, pudiera etc.). Thinking about it, you can never say 'I wish I can' - it will always be incorrect.
I understood clearly. Thanks a lot Jane.
