    I would probably add a few words here to make it clear -

    I really like working with the public and I try to help them with everything to the best of my abilities.

    As long as the two verbs agree: to work / to help or working / helping. Stylistically, you might prefer:

    I really like working with the public and helping them to the best of my ability.
