What does "Id" mean here? Identification, identity? Notice "Id" first in capital. Thanks in advance:

"They box and slam and nail your lid
And hunchbacked go because their Id
Speaks broken-tongued and smothered sin"

(Ray Bradbury, "Mortal Men").

"Id" as a word rhymes with "lid." "ID" as the short form of "identity/identification [card]" is pronounced as two letters, "eye-dee." It would not fit the rhyme or meter of the poem.
