    Hmmm, we have a difference of opinion. :) I think laulop is correct on this one. This "if" clause seems to need the past perfect rather than past tense, but I can't give you any grammatical support for that opinion.

    I also agree with Laulop.

    In hypothetical situations like these, the past perfect should be used in the "if" clause if the conditional perfect is used in the main clause.

    If you hadn't told me that, I wouldn't have known.

    If you didn't tell me that, I wouldn't know.
