    Thank you,

    Hi Claude,

It would be best to say, An English man/ English woman said one day, I am ill as a pirate.

Did you mean someone who speaks English Claude?

I have never heard that expression before.

The English-speaking person no doubt said I am sick as a parrot, or more likely, he was sick as a parrot.

See HERE, and note that it is not a condition that requires medical attention.

Why we assume that parrots should be especially sick is a mystery to me.
