Hi, everybody.

The lyrics of Jingle Bells:

Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh...

According to WR definition of sleigh, on should be used.
Have these lyrics been wrong all this time?

What do you think?

The WRF definition for sleigh as a verb says "ride (on) a sled"
You (usually) ride on a sled: See this picture.

You (usually) ride in a sleigh. A one-horse open sleigh.
The WRF dictionary lists words that are closely related. This does not mean that they are interchangeable in every instance, nor that they take identical constructions.
