Hi, I'm looking to say "the hide came off in a smooth-edged swath" and have got "la peau s'est detachee en un drape avec bord doucereux de coupe" Any suggestions?

la peau se détaché dans un seul morceau aux bords soyeux? I'm not sure this is correct, but that's the sense of the "drapé".

My dictionary gives `andain` and `fauché for `swath` but nothing to indicate if these can be applied to the wave of grass or corn that is cut down by the sweep of a scythe (not a bandage) - which appears to be the intention of the writer above.

Thanks for the replies! The context is hide as in skin, so I've gone with the original 'laniere' translation.

    Thanks again!
