First of all, the materials used in X's schools to teach children and teens are totally old-fashioned and cannot make any improvements in a student’s level of knowledge, thus, one feels reluctant to....

    Fine is not a synonym of correct, it is a measure of the quality of correctness/suitability/acceptability, etc.

    It's sort of okay, but I would change "make" to "bring about" or "achieve". Better still, I would change it to "and cannot raise a student's level of knowledge".
