The following sentence is cited from a book called "the heart is noble" written by the Karpama Ogyen Triney Dojen.
Nurturing hopes is meaningful in and of itself.
What does "in and of itself mean"?

"In and of itself" can be substituted with "in itself", "by itself", "all by itself", "by it's very essence". The author is saying that the mere act of nurturing hopes is meaningful, and that nothing else is necessary. I hope this helps!
