Hi, pls is it possible to say

The elevator will be in repair instead of under repair?

Thanks a lot

  • Hi

No, your are best saying the elevator is "under repair" or "being repaired". "In repair" means that it is already working fine!

When something is " in repairs" it can only refer to the repairs department. However, as the lift is unlikely to be moved from out of the shaft to be taken to the repair department, you can take it as an error.
