Hi,

What does "in response to" mean in the context below –
What words could be used to fill in the gaps?

Source: a material called "Sharpening Your People Skills".

Three relational truths –

1. I can _________________ change others by direct action. / always, never, sometimes?
2. I can only change _________________, /e.g. my attitude regarding… / this but not that...
3. When _________________ change, others will change in response to me. / When I, they? change, others

Thanks,

A.

2. Three Relational Truths:

  • "in response to" means pretty much what a dictionary says. To respond is to be affected by something that someone does [or that happens], and do something as a consequence.

"In response to the light's coming on, the cockroaches scampered away."
"In response to your apology, I say, 'Not accepted; go away; get out of my life.' "

OK. Thanks. So it could be rephrased as an answer to what I have said?

Could you please these gaps in, as an example, so that I am sure I understand these sentences properly? Thanks. A.
