Hi. I know that you say "I wrote something out in rough", but can I eliminate out and say "I wrote an essay in rough"? and is it the same as " I wrote a rough copy" and "I wrote a rough draft"?
Thanks.

In US English, we don't say "wrote...in rough". We do say "wrote a rough draft". If the work is an essay, we'd say: "I wrote a rough draft of the essay."
