in this light

Mayor asks Albert to bring him some information about if another man had something illegal in his past.

Albert was working for the mayor's father-in-law, who had a murky past.

Albert does it and says:

"Strangest thing, but in this light, you remind me an awful lot of your father-in-law."

What is the definition for "light" here? Thanks for your help.

He means literally the light coming into (or in) the room. He's saying at that exact moment, with the light on the mayor's face that way, he looks a lot like his father-in-law.

"In this light" can also be figurative in meaning, but in this case it's literal.
