Hello,

I am working on some research. I speak Spanish but am more familiar with Mexican slang than South American slang. I am looking specifically for the slang terms for street vendors/workers in the informal sector-- ideally in Colombia and Venezuela. I know the Mexican word is "changarros" and am HOPING there are equivalents in Venezuela and Colombia.

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi,
A changarro is a business either formal (paying taxes) or informal, it can
be a hole on the wall, a street cart or a tent in an open market.
Sorry I´m not familair with Venezuelan and Colombian slang.
    cheers

I don't know about Venezuela or Colombia, but in Central America and the Dominican Republic, everyone seems to say "tiendas ambulantes." it's not slang, but it works.
