(1) What they have done is fuse two different types of entertainment, the circus and the rock concert.

(2) What they have done is TO fuse two different types of entertainment, the circus and the rock concert.

(3) What they have done is fusing two different types of entertainment, the circus and the rock concert.

Is there any difference among the three?
The original's (1) and is from the Collins Cobuild English Dictionary, and I thought at first something was odd because I thought that either (2) or (3) is the more appopiriate way with the correct grammar I've acquainted with myself so far.

Looking forward to seeing your answers soon.
