Hello everyone,
There's a tormenting sentence in Brady's "Analysis of the Calendar", the latter part of which I can't comprehend at all. Brady explains the difference between a calendar and an almanac:
The calendar denotes the settled and national mode of registering the course of time by the sun's progress: an almanac is a subsidiary manual formed out of that instrument.
Could someone please clue me in on what on earth this sentence may mean, particularly the part in bold? What exactly does the word "instrument" mean here?
Thank you.
