Intruder in the Dust

I need your help. I have a question: "Intruder in the Dust" is a work by Faulkner... I would like to ask if this phrase has some idiomatic meaning as well. I am asking because the work has been translated into German as "grip into the dust" and into Czech as something like "rest in peace"

Personally, I haven't heard of this expression before. However, being a book title, it's likely a metaphorical interpretation of the plot itself, and not a common idiom. Not knowing the story though, it's going to be hard to determine what exactly Intruder and Dust are referring to.
