In surah maryam, ayat no 57
و رفعناه مكانا عليا
this ayat is about idris alaihis salam, there are two options, Allah really took him to the sky, or Allah gave him higher rank.
Makan has both meaning. In irabul quran they said "makan" with its sifat "aliyyan" will be ظرف.
but my question is, by the second option makan doesn’t mean anything like ظرف as it means ❝pride, rank, honor❞ won’t it become مفعول به then?

No, in both meanings it’s ظرف مكان as in both cases it means “high place”.

When the raising is literal, then the place is also literal.

When the raising is metaphorical, then so is the place. It doesn’t matter if the metaphor refers to something that is not a place, the actual words say “place” and the إعراب is for the actual words.

Note: it can’t possibly be a مفعول به because the verb رفع takes only one مفعول به, and it’s already there explicitly in the sentence.
