Hello teachers,
Is it mandatory the conjunction 'that' in the answer? I think so. Why is it mandatory?
What is her strong point in ballet?
It is that she has a very good technique.

Context:
She doesn’t have a natural talent for ballet, but she likes to dance and has very good technique.

Thanks in advance.

The that is mandatory. The only reason I can think of is that the construction starts with it is and the impersonal it anticipates the that. The that-clause is then a kind of complement.
    I don't dislike John. It's just that I think he's a nuisance.

My argument is that you don't need to use so many words.
Her strong point is her very good technique. (I'm not keen on "her strong point is that...")

    Hello velisarius,
Thank you for yours too. Then the answer could perfectly be 'It is her very good technique', couldn't it?

More likely simply "Her very good technique".
What's your favourite food? - Mushrooms. (My favourite food is mushrooms)
What's her strongest point? - Her technique. (Her strongest point is her marvellous technique)

    Hello velisarius,
Thank you. Point taken. Though the text doesn't mention other strong points in her ballet classes. Then, I think, it is better your original one.
What is her strong point in ballet?
    a) Her very good technique.
    b) Her strong point is her very good technique.
