Hello,
I have just come across the phrase "it set my mind in solid plaster" - actually it is "a book that set my mind in solid plaster" and I can't figure out what it means.
Was the woman simply flabbergasted? Did the book in question make her impervious to the influence of books? Did it make her a sceptic?
Could anyone help me, please? Many thanks.
