While marrying to Peter, Lucy says to him about his family who has believed her really loving him :

You allowed me to be a part of your family. And I haven't had that in a really long time. And I just didn't wanna let go of that. So even though it was just for a little while, I will love them always.

What does "it" refer to?
Does "it" mean "she stay with his family for a small time"?

That makes sense. Her stay with the family was a short one. Even though she only stayed with his family for a short time, she will always love that family.
