Hi, I'm trying to translate the following phrase "It was late August". As in, 'time of year was late August'.
I know the phrase 'a finales de agosto' but I'm sure how to say the 'it was'.

Does 'eran los finales de agosto' work? Estaban a finales de agosto?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance :)

You should say "Era finales de agosto", in singular, because it refers to the time (it) and ´late August´refers to the last days of the month (plural). Cheers!!
