It was really lovely to hear from you

I am writing a response to a letter from an old friend. I have come up with: "Ça a été un grand plaisir de t'entendre." Is there a way this translation could be more accurate/improved?

Many thanks, J

    Bonjour,

Given the fact it's about a letter, I would be more likely to say de te lire instead of de t'entendre.

Moreover, I would tend to use Ce fut un plaisir de te lire just because I don't like how ça a été sounds.

Another way would be to say ce fut un plaisir d'avoir/de lire de tes nouvelles.

Thank you, that's really helpful. I am going with Ce fut un plaisir d'avoir de tes nouvelles.

May I ask, how does "Ce fut un plaisir d'avoir de tes nouvelles et cela me rappelle beaucoup de souvenirs." sound?
