Hi all. I'm trying to translate:

'It will take me five days to get hold of the full amount.'

But I'm struggling to express the first part, 'take five days to...'

The 'full amount' is referring to rent.

我要五天才弄到总房租了。

What would you say? Thanks!

    There's a different between 花了我五天才…… and 我要五天……
我五天…… / 我花五天…… / 用我五天…… / 我用五天…… All these expressions can only be used for PAST TENSES (including present perfect).
However, the OP's sentence is using future tense. So it can only be translated into 我五天…… / 我用五天 / 用我五天 / 我花五天…… / 我需五天……

Also, like Jerry said, 总房租 is not good. Should be 全部房租 / 所有房租 / 收齐房租(collecting full amount of rent)
