Hi,
1. He's studying abroad. But it won't be too long before he can come back from New York.
2. He's studying abroad. But it won't be too long before he comes back from New York.

I made these sentences and wonder which sounds more natural.

    Both are natural. But they mean and say different things.

    Sentence 1 says that, pretty soon, he will be able to come back from New York. Can means able to.

    Sentence 2 says that, pretty soon, he will come back from New York.
