it's very windy / there are strong winds

I normally hear that there are strong winds (noun), and I'm sure it's windy (adjective) also sounds natural. But I'm not really sure if it's very windy sounds natural to you although it appears grammatically correct.

    It is fine.

"There are strong winds" is what you hear in a weather report. "It's very windy" is what we say in ordinary conversation.
