just to jerk myself off

It's the movie "Catch.44".
One boss says to a girls who works at his club as a waitress
that he has noticed she lifts client's wallets, but he understand her need for money.
He plans to involve her in drug traffic and whatever.
And the girl begins some kind of a speech with the words,
"You think I was lifting those wallets just to jerk
myself off? See, I'm just a simple girl
who appreciates a buck or two, but that's not why
I lifted those wallets. I did it 'cause I'm good at it."

Okay for "jerk off" but could you interpret it as "I didn't lift those wallets just to please myself"?
Or she is really literal here?

Thank you
