I would suggest: "Je vais m'assurer de te garder au fait de tout nouveau développents,"

Thank you! My letter is to a former supervisor..to which I was close to but a supervisor none the less. Perhaps the second choice would be better than?

Is the last word 'développements' though?

Also, how does the use of 'au fait' change how phrase translates?

You are correct with respect to "développement"; my mistake. If you are replying to a former supervisor, I would then suggest to use the polite form i.e. "Je vais m'efforcer de vous garder au fait de tout nouveau développement"

if it has to be polite, "vous" should be used.
And "je vous tiendrai au courant de l'évolution de la situation etc" is very polite.
Or "=========== informé ==================== " is even more polite.
"garder au fait" is right, but a bit precious

pour que la loi puisse être mise à jour au fur et à mesure des changements?

The whole sentence would probably help too.

I've looked at other threads, and tried to follow the rule, could you just check this specific sentence please?

I always watch the news because I think it's important to keep up-to-date with current events'
    My try:
Je toujours regarde le journal télévise car a mon avis c’est important être au courant d’actualité
