    Yes, it is true.

    The can represents a problem. In a literal sense, it's trash that you find on the road and you know that you'll have to pick up. But you don't want to pick it up yet. So you give it a kick and keep walking down the road. Eventually, you reach the can again. So, still not wanting to bend down and pick it up, you kick it again. You continue on the path, until you reach the can again and still don't want to pick it up and get your hands dirty, so you give it another kick...
