Salut !

Someone showed me a picture of his kids. He was obviously very proud of them. I wanted to say "Kids are the most important thing." What would be the idiomatic way of saying this?

My guess: Le principal est les enfants.

I don't think "Le principal est des enfants." would work, because French requires the definite article in such circumstances.

    You could have said "Le principal, c'est les enfants".
    But I would rather say:
    - Les enfants, c'est ce qu'il y a de plus important,
    - Rien n'est plus important que les enfants,
    - Les enfants, c'est ce qui compte le plus
