I am also trying to take up Japanese because i am going on a trip next year to Japan.

Is this a greeting?

If yes, is that the correct spelling?

Konnichiwa is "Good Afternoon"
but also can be used as a greeting, something like hello.

Thanks. For some strange reason i thought Konnichiwa meant good morning. What is good morning in Japanese then?

And then there is the phrase "konban wa" which means good evening.
