Non so come rendere questa formula di convenevole che si usa per esordire in situazioni in cui si vuole manifestare rispetto per l'interlocutore:

    To say this in English can be a bit "long-winded" and clumsy so how about...

    Excuse me, but I really need to ask about the....
    or a bit more elaborate...
    Please excuse the disturbance but I wanted to ask about...
    Please excuse the interruption but I needed to ask you about...
    Please excuse the intrusion, (interruption) but something important has come up
    May I interrupt as I need to ask you about...
    Sorry to interrupt but I would like to ask you .....
    Excuse me for disturbing you but I would like to ask about the....

    Can you see what a mouthful it all is, so the first one is probably the simplest.;)

    i think that the best compromise between simplicity and politeness is "Sorry to disturb you, but I need to ask about....".
