I read other posts about what to call a female president, but there seems to be conflicting information and now I'm even more confused. I got the impression that both are used, depending on the situation. Are these correct?

La Presidente = Female President of USA/Mexico/Country
La Presidenta = Female who is presiding over a meeting
La Presidenta = Female who is in charge of a company or organization

Here in Argentina, everybody refers to the new president as "la Presidenta Cristina Kirchner", and this is both in newpapers and TV or radio newscasts and in the streets. It might be grammatically wrong, I really cannot tell, but that's the way it is!
    Good luck
