La quinta es la vencida

Does the phrase "la quinta es la vencida" mean the equivalent of "the third time's a charm" in English, except for the fact that it refers to the fifth rather than the third time something is attempted or accomplished?

    Debe ser algún tipo de ironía (creo). Que yo sepa, siempre ha sido "a la tercera va la vencida". No a la quinta...
    Sí, hay un "no hay quinto malo", pero se aplica en el toreo.

    I think you got it, that is what I tought when I read it... third time's a charm :) I don't think the number matters, unless you want it.
