ladder climbing

Hi, I'm in the middle of a translation and I have some problems to translate into Spanish those words, I write the context for you to understand.

"He reached a point of not wanting to go to work because of all the backstabbing and ladder climbing he saw"

I have changed backstabbing for traición or puñalada trapera, and if some of my choices are wrong I would be totally pleased if someone told me.

Thans everybody

I would say that "ladder-climbing" is fundamentally a 'neutral' term but is here being used 'negatively' in context.

"ladder-climbing" is "(el) escalar puestos", the point is that here it is being done in 'bad' ways.
