Ciao a tutti,

does the phrase 'le insegne della pace' have a particular significance, e.g. religious, in Italian? I'm thinking of the English 'sign of peace', which is the part of Mass at which people shake each other's hands...

The phrase in question: "pareva io ricevessi le insegne della pace"
("and it seemed as if I received the sign(s) of peace"?)

Thanks a million!

There is a difference between insegne della pace= emblem of peace and segno di pace, as said in the Mass.
The first can be also a banner,a badge, insignia, coat...
