I was wondering if the name Moujaddara مجدرة for a dish of rice and lentils, cooked in the Middle East has anything to do with the translation I found on Aratools.com “ having smallpox, pock-marked” from the passive verb جُدر
If one looks at the two colors of the dish, white and brown. with a little phantasy he can think of smallpox.

I read once that the name is indeed derived from smallpox. The protruding lentils in this dish are likened to the smallpox bumps.
