lie full length on a form

Estoy traduciendo un manual para la educación de niños discapacitados, y no entiendo el sentido de esta frase. Por favor, ¿alguien me podría ayudar?

"get the child to lie full length on a form and pull himself along to the end".

Muchas gracias

    Hi there, oenone.

One meaning of "form" is "a bench, especially one which is long, low, and backless". I think the term is British English rather than American English.

I remember sitting on a form when I was six or seven to eat my school dinners (= lunches); the tables were long, too!

Imagine the child in your example lying on a long, low, backless bench and pulling himself along from one end to the other.....
